ABOUT ME
Dr. Gokhan Apaydin is a professor in the Department of Electrical-Electronics Engineering, USKUDAR University, Istanbul. He was born in Ankara, Turkey, in 1978. He received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bogazici University (formerly Robert College, the first American College outside the United States in 1863), Istanbul, Turkey in 2001, 2003, and 2007, respectively. He was with Bogazici University from 2001 to 2005; the University of Technology Zurich from 2005 to 2010; and he was a Visiting Associate Professor at the Department of ECE, University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, IL, USA, in 2015.
He has been involved with complex electromagnetic problems and systems. His research interests include analytical and numerical methods in electromagnetics (especially on electromagnetic computation of wave propagation, diffraction modeling, scattering, and related areas). He is also interested in novel approaches in engineering education and teaching electromagnetics via virtual tools. He has co-authored two books Radio Wave Propagation and Parabolic Equation Modeling (IEEE Press–John Wiley, 2017) and Electromagnetic Diffraction Modeling and Simulation with MATLAB (Artech House, February 2021), over 50 scientific journal articles, and presented many conference papers.
He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and an Associate Editor at IEEE ACCESS.
